Our Story

The Meaning Behind DanseMÈRE Our name is inspired by the French words danse meaning dance, and ma mère meaning my mother. The DanseMÈRE bag is like having your mum backstage with you, keeping you calm, organised and ready. It gives the same sense of support that every dancer knows they can rely on from their dance mum.

About the Founder DanseMÈRE was created by a former performer, teacher and backstage mum who understands the challenges dancers face during eisteddfod season. Dancers often prepare in crowded makeshift dressing rooms with no mirrors and nowhere to organise their gear. The DanseMÈRE bag was designed to make those moments easier. It brings calm and structure to busy performance days and keeps everything in its place. The bag has been designed with purpose and supports the focus and confidence every dancer needs.
